Warhammer/40k races

This page will tell you about the races of warhammer fantasy and 40k. To see some of the choas/space marine chapters and other sub groups (example imperial guard Cadians) go to the sub group page.

Warhammer 40k

 

Eldar: a race of fragile Space Elves, which use technology and finesse over
brute force to ensure the existence of their dying race;
     Alaitoc: The Rangers, they use a host of "Sniper" style tactics along
with a specialized unit called Pathfinders. They have a lot of oput casts called "rangers"
     Beil-Tan: The Swordwind, they Aspect Warriors in their unique and
specialized ways and can be lead by a very specialized Exarch HQ unit called
the Court of the Young King. They are the most agressive of the elder.
     Iyandan: The Ghost Warriors, they use multitudes of Wraithguard &
Wraithlords and can upgrade their Warlocks to Spiritseers. they only have a handful of warriors since they are on the verge of extiction
     Saim-Hann: The Wild Riders, they are the fastest of the Eldar hosts,
utilizing vehicles and Fast Attack choices, the may also be lead by a
specialized Jetbike unit of the Wild Rider Chief and Clansmen. Although this means they have less infantry
     Ulthwe: The Damned, they use Black Guardians and can be lead by a Seer
Council, they may also use "Strike Force" tactics  also  they have very talented phykers there craftworld is near the eye of terror

Pros: fast, good weapons and lots of good units
 
 
 
Cons: brittle, expensive

    
Harliquin Eldar: These Eldar worship the Laughing God and will use their
unique and highly specialized hand-to-hand abilities to guard the Web Ways, they wear diffrent colours and look like clowns


Dark Eldar: a race of nasty Space Elves, which like their brethren use
technology; but also employ combat drugs and focus more on hand-to-hand
combat. They also like to tortue and sacrifice victims

Pros: fast and powefull
 
 
 
Cons:Weak armour, has to be played skill fully


Imperial Guard: the basic human soldier with a multitude of guns, tanks, and
artillery pieces. They are very diverse and can field anything from tank
armies to mob armies.
 
Pros: good at shooting
 
 
 
Cons:



Lost and the Dammed: all men who have lost faith in the empirium and now
worship the evil Chaos Gods.

Necrons: a race of cold, merciless machines, they use extreme technology and
bionics to overcome all things organic. Of particular note is the fact that
they can often get back up after being shot down.. Even there basic weapon is deadly they worship the ctans god like beings.

Pros: they have exellent weapons, can get back up again, fast
 
 
Cons: has low toughness, expensive


Space Orks: a race of thick brutish green creatures, that have a very simple
philosophy that they can never loose because.
     If the run away, they will be back with more boyz.
     If they all die, there are no witnezzes; therefore, the battle never
took place. and,
     If they win, itz bizness az uzual.They have very wacky machines and stuff
 
Pros: fun to play with!, wacky machines and strong
 
 
 
Cons: stuff liable to blow up.

Space Marines: a race of Genetically enhanced humans that beleave they ar
the defenders of all humanity, they have a lots of different chapters
that allows each player to completely customize his army to fit his playing
style. They are the starters choice



Choas Space Marines: all Space Marines that have lost faith and turned against the emperor. They now worship
the four evil Chaos Gods slaanesh, khorne, nurgle of tzneetch

Pros: mutations, vetren skills, god marks, demonic skills.
 
 
Cons: expensive, not a lot of units.

Tau: a race of highly advanced aliens, who use a combination of organic and
machine in order to build the perfect warrior.They lack close combat skills but the massed shooting conters that.
     Kroot: a race of barbaric alien mercenaries, most often employed by the
Tau.
 
Pros: best shooty army avable, lots of special weapons, can hire kroot mercinares
 
 
 
Cons: not good at close combat, must avoid armies like tyranids comming to close to them


Sisters of Battle or Witch Hunters: Much like Space Marines only female, the
may look soft and innocent; but, they are as hard as nails in battle and can
stand up to most anything.


Tyranids: a race of bug-like creatures, who use bio-enhancements to
constantly adapt to their enemies. They are adept at hand-to-hand (or should
I say, Claw-to-hand) fighting and are among the fastest armies in the game. They also have very strange bio-guns
 
Pros: The best close combat army, lots of units, can even create your own breed of units!
 
 
Cons: Vunrable when being shot at

Warhammer fantasy

 

Skaven: a race of evil giant rat-men, which have some weird and wacky machines to pulverize their enemies with. They get stronger as their numbers grow, and their "Bell" can debilitate any War-machines. They are often found near tunnels or sewers.

Pros: cheap, many bizare and strange machines and units

 

Cons: low leadership

 



Undead: a race of re-born warriors from the grave, they will stop at nothing to convert (through death) all of the living to their undead force.
    Tomb Kings: a race of undead warriors based around an Egyptian theme. They can employ large numbers, powerful magic, and some unique units.

Pros: strong magic, can raise fallen units, fast army and cause fear

 

Cons: weak,slow moving skeletins, Must protect hierophant (liche priest) or army will crumble away


    Vampire Counts: a race of Vampires that use a host of sorcery in which to control a variety of undead creatures such as Skeletons, Wraiths, and Zombies.

Pros: many diffrent vampire types (strigio, von carstines, blood dragons, lahmians and necrach)

 

Cons: slow moving infantary (zombies)



Lizardmen: a race of giant lizards and lizard-men theme somewhat around the Aztec or Mayan theme that live in a large rain forest. They have many unique units and very powerful magic as well as a good all around toughness.

 

Pros: Tough, fast and dinosaurs!

 

Cons: expensive



Empire: basic mankind set in the "fantasy realm" where might makes right. They are probably the most diverse race having many unit choices and a host of very powerful magic and War-machines.

 

Pros:good magic users, lots of cannons, diverse army with lots of good units

 

Cons: must relay on fire power and cannons



Bretonians: basic mankind set in the Feudal era where Knights and Chivalry dictate the rules of combat. The power of the heavy horse, lance formation, and general discipline is the key to their success.

Pros: lots of strong armoured horsemen, virtues

 

Cons:only 1 warmachine, no cannons, basicly a army full of calvary, low leadership units ( peasants)



Elves: a race of lithe, agile and educated fairy type beings, they can all use powerful ranged weapons, magic and Dragons to aid them in victory;
    Wood Elves: where wild magic and balance in nature are predominant.
    High Elves: where powerful magic and control are predominant.
    Dark Elves: where sinister magic and deception are predominant.

note this includes of of the 3 types of elves D= darkelves , h= high elves and w= wood elves

Pros: fast, (d) monsters, (w) lots of archers and scouting units, (h) magic filled army, (d) can worship khaine or slaanesh

 

cons: fragile, (h) expensive, (w) not alot of units, (d) depends on missle power (sometimes)



Orcs & Gobllins: a race based on the "fantasy realm" with a host of large brutish green creatures (Orcs) and small weedy weak creatures (Goblins). They rely on strength in numbers and brute force over skill to defeat their enemies. They also have some of the most bizarre special rules in the game, which when the dice go well can be hilarious.

Note that o= orcs g=goblins (both type) M= trolls and giant and if there is no letter  it applies to all

Pros: lots of units, (g) cheap, (o) strong, (m) fear or terror causing

Cons: animosty, (m) lots of rules, (g) low leadership

Dwarfs: a race of stocky, stout, short people who use metallurgy to build powerful weapons in order to defeat their enemies. They have a host of War-machines such as guns and cannons, they also have a resilience against magic.

Chaos: a compilation on men and beasts that worship four unholy Gods;
    Beasts of Chaos: the group of mutated animals and men that worship the 4 Chaos Gods, and will stop at nothing to crush anything good.

Note that d= deamons, m= mortels b= beasts of choas and if there is no letter  it applies to all

Pros: (d,m) tough, (m) strong, marks and spells, (b) lots of monsters

 

cons: small, expensive


    Slannesh: the God of luxury, seduction and desires.
    Nurgle: the loathsome God that embodies plague, pestilence and disease.
    Tzeentch: the God of corrupt magic and change.
    Khorne: the God of deceit and bloodlust
